Where can a family volunteer around food insecurity in the Jewish community?

We want a practical chesed project that older children can understand. Are there local kosher pantry or meal-support programs in Greater Washington?

Yad Yehuda of Greater Washington lists the Capital Kosher Pantry, Tomchei Shabbos, Emergency Relief and Resource Advisors among its programs. Start at yadyehuda.org/programs and ask which current volunteer roles are age-appropriate.

Let the organization set the need. Sometimes the most useful job is packing, sometimes a specific drive, and sometimes a donation that lets staff buy exactly what families need.
